Also, examining the relationship between futuristic thinking and specific symptoms of autism spectrum disorder such as repetitive behaviors can increase the clinical importance of this research and be an important path for future research. Overall, the evidence for how futuristic thinking affects autism spectrum disorder is limited, and more empirical studies using larger samples are needed to clearly identify the nature of any problems in this group. By increasing the understanding of precise cognitive deficits that hinder the ability of children with autism spectrum disorders to interact with others, learn language, and successfully manage the needs of daily life, these deficiencies can be better targeted in interventions.
